Join England’s most famous outlaw and his band of merry men in Robin of Sherwood, a 5 reel, 243 ways to win slot from Rabcat. This trip to Nottingham comes with royal symbols that can magically transform into wilds as well as a free spins round where the lower value symbols are gradually removed from the action. Play on all devices from between 20p and £40 per spin.
The design here is excellent. With Sherwood Forest and the Sheriff of Nottingham’s castle in the background, you’ll see A to J royal banners as well Friar Tuck, Maid Marian, Little John and the wicked Sheriff. The best of the standard symbols is of course Robin Hood – he pays 5, 25 or 50 times your total stake if you land 3, 4 or 5 in combination.
They’re joined by the arrows symbol which is the wild. As well as substituting for everything apart from the scatter, it also offers awards of up to 50 times your stake. There are 3 bonus features on offer in Robin of Sherwood.
Wild Turning feature – this can trigger at random in the base game. 1 or more reels are chosen and become active. All of the lower value A, K, Q and J symbols on those reels are converted into wilds and a new payout consideration is made.
Free Spin feature – land 3 or more of the target scatter to trigger this round. You’ll then be awarded 10 free spins. On every second free spin, 1 of the lower value royal symbols is removed from play. The J is removed on the second free spin, the Q on the fourth and so on.
By the end of the feature, you’ll only see higher value symbols spinning around the reels which means if you do bag a winner it has the potential to be a decent sized one. This removal of symbols is known as the Royal Clearing feature.
We enjoyed this re-telling of the classic tale of Robin Hood. The 3D design is from the top drawer and works very well. The range of extras isn’t wide but the transforming wilds and free spins round offer enough to keep things interesting. The overall variance here is in the medium range which offers a balance of payouts.
If you fancy taking a trip to merrie olde England, then Robin of Sherwood will be an entertaining guide. If you like the theme, Robin Hood Shifting Riches by NetEnt and Robin Hood Prince of Tweets by NextGen Gaming are worth playing.
