Rise of Olympus is a Play ‘N Go-powered slot played on a 5×5 grid – playable from 20p to £100 a spin on desktop, mobile and tablet devices, this Greek mythology themed game sees Hades, Poseidon and Zeus take centre stage in this very high variance setting where there’s plenty of bonus features to take advantage of.
Aesthetically, Rise of Olympus is what you’d expect from a Play ‘N Go offering – set on Mount Olympus, symbols on the reels include Hades, Poseidon and Zeus as well as helmets, tridents and bolts which represent each of the 3 Greek gods. You’ll also see harps and Pegasus gold coin which is the wild and replaces all symbols. The wild is the most rewarding symbol giving you 50 times your stake for 5 in combination.
As a grid slot, winning combinations are achieved by getting 3 or more symbols in a row – either horizontally or vertically. When you get a win, the winning symbols are removed with the remaining symbols dropping down to form new combinations. When you get a win, the wild appears in the middle location with the win multiplier increasing with every new drop. If only wilds remain on the grid, they are removed which triggers the Free Spins feature – more of which later.
Rise of Olympus comes with the Hand of God feature which is randomly triggered on non-winning spins – depending on which active God is showing to the right of the grid, a different ability is performed to potentially create winning combos. There are 3 – 1 for each god:
- Hades – 1 set of symbols is chosen and transformed into another symbol
- Poseidon – 1 or 2 wild symbols are added to the grid
- Zeus – 2 sets of symbols are destroyed and removed from the grid which allows new symbols to appear
Then you have Wrath of Olympus feature which is played when the on-screen meter is full – you can fill the meter when you get winning combinations of the God symbols. Get a 5 of a kind win to fill 3 sections of the meter with a 4 of a kind win filling 2 sections – if you get a 3 of a kind combo, just 1 section fills up.
Once the meter is full, you will get 1 free spin – then consecutive Hand of God features play out after each other meaning symbols will transform, wilds will be added and 2 sets of symbols will be destroyed.
If you manage to clear the whole grid from symbols, you’ll enter the Free Spins feature – you then chose from Hades who gives you 4 free spins, Poseidon with 5 free spins or Zeus with 8 free spins. The associated Hand of God feature applies for the option you choose – i.e. if you pick Poseidon, 1 or 2 wilds will be added on every non-winning free spin. Each consecutive win increases the multiplier up to a maximum of 20x!
Now, if you full up the on-screen meter during the feature, you will get more free spins – Hades will give you 4 more free spins with Poseidon giving you 3 more free spins. Zeus will reward you with 2 more free spins each time. You can do this multiple times with a maximum amount of 20 free spins on offer. Finally, if you clear the grid entirely during a free spin, your reward will be an instant cash prize of 100 times your stake.
Rise of Olympus is simpler than it sounds – basically, the Hand of God feature comes into play on random non-winning symbols and will reward you with wilds, transferring and removal of symbols for possible wins. It’s all about the Free Spins feature where each non-winning free spin will see a Hand of God feature come into play – if you do win, the multiplier goes up by 1 up to 20x.
Rise of Olympus looks fantastic and is very high variance – so tread carefully. Saying that, you can win up to 5,000 times your stake on every free spin if you’re lucky. If you like the Greek mythology theme, I suggest you try the Age of the Gods series from Playtech.
